Fabulous Fox Theatre - Atlanta Customers Reviews
This is the last song I will ever sing, I've changed my mind
This was a potentially perfect matchup of two of my favorite artists, Interpol and Morrissey. What could go wrong?
Interpol started PROMPTLY at 7:30pm. We actually walked in during their first song of the set and found our seats. Interpol did not disappoint: they played a really good mix of their fan favorites and some tracks from their latest EP. I could have taken in 3 more hours of it. Really, they were THAT good.
Then, after about a 30-40 viewing of a strange collection of music videos, it was time for Moz. Moz broke the golden rule for the performer in the twilight of their career: PLAY THE HITS. To be fair, he lead off with How Soon Is Now and lightly sprinkled in a few other cherished classics. But the bulk of the set was the new album, which is not his best work by any stretch. I wished he picked 3 of his favorites from the new album to play and then gave us what we all really wanted, which was a sampling of his rich catalog of amazing solo work and a few hits from The Smiths catalog. It wasn't to be, unfortunately. To be completely fair, Moz and the band are brilliant performers and have really mastered their craft. This isn't a knock on their ability, more so a lament on disappointing evening where the hits were left off the setlist.
Interpol - 5 stars
Moz - 3 stars
